Fascinating place to spend the day letting kids explore.
Oxbow Meadows is a beautiful place for people of any age to visit because it has so much to offer. From summer programs for children to bird watching or biking along the Riverwalk, this place has it all. There are many exhibits of live reptiles indoors and sometimes there are live reptile shows. You can even have your child's birthday party here featuring a reptile show! You will be very impressed with the staff's helpfulness and expertise!
On the 23 of April the Reptile Fest at Oxbow Meadows was held. This was a joy to see and the price was 5 bucks to get in and a few extra dollars for the Canopy which is a trail in the trees. Because the day I went they had all kinds of goodies to do like those inflatable stuff for the children and a wildlife family that brought their pets along. They were not dogs and cats. There were large albino python, a gator, a few hedgehogs and one of those was a albino, and a vulture which turned out to be a very large bird. Plus a few more that I can't remember the names of.
Had a blast today! Went to a birthday party and it was awesome. My girls had a blast. Def will be back to bring my son as well at some point. Located across from the infantry museum on Lumpkin road. Really cool place to check out. The kids got to sit on stage in the auditorium for a special show for the party and got to see reptiles and learn some cool info!
Don't miss going inside the building and seeing their many awesome aquariums they have set up. They have stuffed animals as well and your children or you can get up close to them.
It was fun and I plan to go next year if I can. Crossing my fingers.
Oxbow has all kinds of reptiles snakes, turtles of all sizes, gators, lizards and fish. I am sure your children will love it as much as you do. If you want to wait for the next "Reptile Fest" then keep an eye out on its day event held once a year in the spring I believe that adds a few extras for the whole family to enjoy.
Oxbow meadows is a learning center as far as I know it is open year round but they are off as far as I know on Sundays. The people are nice, the place is clean, your children and you will have a fun time regardless what part of the year you come. One thing to keep in mind is if you plan to take the walking trail and you have small children bring a stroller because the walk goes a long ways. It's only short if you turn around and go back the same way you came.
A neat place to take the kids for a day of learning. Just enough animals/exhibits to occupy the attention of a 5 year old. There's also a few walk and lean outdoor trails.
