Adopted my cat there about 4 months ago. The facility is very clean and the cats look well taken care of. It seems as though volunteers come and play/read to the cats, which is nice. You can enter any of the little cubicles to play with the cats without question. The administrative staff I spoke to were friendly. We were told that our cat was 3-6 years old but when we took her to the vet for a free checkup (PAWS offers free vet visits within the first few weeks at certain places) they told us she was 3-6 MONTHS old. They do not take in stray cats. They are a kill shelter :(
I got my pibble, Rémi, spayed here, and they did a fantastic job. They also gave her a perfect mani/pedi at no extra charge. Because Columbus is quite forward thinking, with regard to pit bulls, the spay, microchip, and one-year rabies vaccine were all free. Yes, FREE. Such an enlightened approach to the pit bull overpopulation issues vs. a breed ban. With regard to Rémi’s treatment, she is very cautious and reserved; probably mistreated before I found her. She usually bonds with only one person on staff at the vet, and I could tell the vet tech who helped me get her to the car was the one she chose. The young lady obviously cared for Rémi very well during pre-op and recovery; I’ll be honest, I didn’t expect that kind of singular care in a high-volume facility. Cheers, to all there; you’re providing a vital service for the city’s responsible pibble owners.
I found and fostered three kittens until an adaptable age and kept one. I couldn't find homes for the other two and i can't keep them, because I now have three cats of my own. When I went to give them up. They told me to make an appointment to surrender them and also told me that I could just leave them at the kill shelter next door. Doesn't quite seem like they are too eager to save animals lives. They also gave me a number to call, to make an appointment and no one answered their phone.
We adopted a beautiful lab mix today. He fits into our family perfectly and is an exceptional dog. The people at Paws were so friendly and helpful. It was a wonderful experience.
