Beautiful house, friendly staff. A great place to stay!
Anyone staying temporarily or visiting anyone near Fort Benning?
After spending four days moving out of my home this week with very little sleep, I chose to come here to recuperate with my husband at the cost of $175 per night for two nights because I knew that we would have great service in a serene environment. The room I wanted was unavailable because they moved someone else in it. We ended up in the Thomas suite.
I found a long hair in my croissant
When I went to bathe, the jets pushed out black soot (see photo)
Coming down to Fort Benning was not for us or a work related trip for Iggy. It was to see his brother (and in the process we adopted his battle buddy). They weren't staying with us, but Matt and Mary made sure these two boys knew they were welcome. Mary made them a good home cooked breakfast both mornings. She treated everyone like family. Matt and Mary made this Stay feel like we just stayed the weekend with family. They made all four of us feel welcomed and wanted. We could have easily stayed at a hotel. But, I am glad we didn't. Because, I guarantee no hotel is going to do all they did. Customer service is something they (hotel) can provide, but they are not going to make you feel like you're home with family with a home cooked meal, hugs, and good company. This place will and you'll leave wanting to come back. Thank you to the owner and staff at this amazing establishment for a memorable visit.
NO CABLE TV to watch. Turned it on and the screen said Not Authorized. Was told that WOW was working on it and it was in and out all day. As of 11 pm it was still off.
(spiders)Not a great experience for a first time stay at a bed and breakfast. Not all do to the Inn but also from the owner and her lack of customer relation skills. I was unsure of the neighborhood when we first arrived but after going inside I was more at ease and thought it was a charming place. First thing we noticed when going upstairs to our rooms was the difference in temperature. It was really warm... and I'm a cold nature person. Matt, that works there did check the thermostat and I'm sure put it as low as it would go but it didn't do much to cool the upstairs off. And the window unit in one bedroom didn't either. I asked if there were any fans that could be brought into the room but Matt didn't seem to think there was any at the house. I don't like trying to sleep in a hot room if I can help it, especially when you're paying over $800. for it. When my mom went to open her bathroom door the knob completely came off. Okay, I can handle that. What I couldn't handle was the baby spiders I found in my bed. I always check the beds anywhere I stay, but this is the first time I found anything that concerned me. That can be seen with the naked eye anyway:). It was five baby spiders, a bit smaller than a ladybug. Told our host, and checked the room my mom was to sleep in, found 1 baby spider on the pillow and didn't bother looking any longer. Spiders + kids = crying and " I'm not staying here!" Needless to say I wasn't happy about it either. But I kept my composure and with much assurance from Linda , who was our main host, that this had never been an issue before and that there were no bed begs, we decided to stay. She had us stay in a larger room downstairs so it was much cooler and brought us a blowup mattress, . There was a 3rd room upstairs we could have stayed in as well, but being it was hot and that seemed to be where the baby spiders seemed to hatch from, we decided to avoid it all together. The rest of our stay was fine, and needless to say we found no spiders in the downstairs bedroom. I asked for the owner to get in touch with us when she came back from vacation and after a couple of follow up calls she responded back. I told her what happened and I was kind about the situation and did ask if we could get a partial refund since we only stayed in 1 room for 2 nights and not 2 rooms for 2 nights. I wouldn't say she was ugly to start with and not sorry at all, but the comments that came from her mouth where all debating. Like "maybe they were mosquitos". No, I know what spiders look like:/, then I sent her the pictures I had taken of them. Another excuse was that she had lost money already with our stay because we changed our dates from May to July. I'm sorry but we gave 13 days notice before we changed our dates and they said that was plenty advance notice and they're rooms had not been all booked. She had also said that summer was their slow month, and we were the only guest there the week days we stayed. So I don't think we caused her any monetary loss there. The end of that conversation she told me to check back with her in October, that's her busier season and maybe she could afford a partial refund then. So I've waited patiently, not really expecting anything, but to see if she would do the right thing. When I called she new who I was and wasted no time on telling me why she felt like no refund was due. Just very short , unapologetic, insincere, and defensive. I told her I would rather her say she can't give a refund, but be genuinely sorry that our stay started terribly.
No coffee in room, had to request it
As a Soldier few years ago, I had a great experience here. I was a faithful patron and came before and after my deployments to regroup and refresh.
Worst money spent :( but nowhere to go
Receptacle on the counter didn't work. Put the coffee pot on the floor next to the bed.
I put a DO NOT DISTURB sign on my room before I left for a few hours. Someone came in the room, left coffee and towels, cleaned out coffee machine but left the bathtub DIRTY. My husband cleaned it because I was too upset to call.
Many of times when traveling from base to base we look for the hotel with the best "deals". We don't always think to look outside of that box and go for chains/corporate type accommodations because we know the name. This weekend we had the pleasure of staying at this beautiful bed & breakfast. Booking was easy with a phone call, the room was stunning, and breakfast was delicious. Matt met us when we came in around 2 am to give us our key as well as show us the house a bit. He was a call or text away and always responded when we had a question. Mary made us delicious breakfast and made sure we were taken care of each morning leaving with full bellies. Now, let me get to the part that separates this B&B from staying any where else.
Wonderful bed and breakfast. Friendly staff, clean and comfortable rooms. Delicious breakfast and good coffee
Requested no pork for breakfast, got bacon
Needless to say, I spent over $390 for a two night stay and am sad and disappointed not only at the service, but at the level of care with which Rothschild Pound has resorted to maintaining its rooms. Matt and his wife seemed to be nice people but the overall stay was very disheartening and my complaints were redirected several times to the owner being on vacation, and no compensation was ever offered for the poor facilities. If we weren't so exhausted, defeated and temporarily homeless we would have left the first night after the bathtub incident.
